U13 reach the Div 2 league final!

The U13 boys qualified for the final of the Cork County Div 2 league on Sunday 12th February. They played Banteer. The Walterstown boys played really well in the singles, coming out 2 games all with a game in hand from Tom Gill's three setter. The two doubles games would be the decider. The second doubles, Leo Daly and Mikey Foley, had a good game and came away with both sets, while Tom Gill and Sam Beckingham had a battle for their games, just winning boths sets by the required 2 point margin, giving Walterstown the well deserved victory.Well done to a great group of lads, who never gave up. This is the first time a badminton team from Walterstown School played in a County final. We are very proud of their achievement and so is Shirley Scandrett, their dedicated coach.

U11 team update - League matches Feb 4 in Mahon

The U11 boys played their final two league matches on Saturday in Mahon. The first match was against Banteer. The games were extremely close, almost all going within 1 or 2 points of each other. The boys played out of their skins to come away with a draw for this match. Banteer would be one of the stronger sides in this league. The second match was played immediately after against Ladysbridge, again a very strong team in this league. Our boys upped their games again, to win this match very comfortably 8-4. These were the best games played by the U11 boys and are most deservedly worthy winners on the day. They played out of their skins! We are all so proud of them. Well done.
