Second Class 2022/2023

It has been a busy first term for Second Class this year. Since returning from midterm break, they have been learning all about data in maths. They walked around the school collecting information and making tally charts. They have been working hard learning about magnets, reading on the school iPads, doing winter chalk art and playing hockey for P.E.

This week Second Class presented their first ever school projects! It was very exciting to research all about animals and every child spoke with confidence when showing-off their hard work. The class heard a lot of interesting facts about a variety of animals.

Attention has now turned to learning songs for the upcoming Christmas Concert. Everyone is looking forward to having a live audience this year and cannot wait to take to the stage in December!

Autumn Nature Walk 🍂 🍁

2nd and 3rd class both enjoyed a nature walk with Bean Uí Riain this the week! They went on a tree hunt, searching for Irish native trees and their leaves. The children collected many fruits and seeds, some of which will be planted in the school garden in the coming weeks.

Everyone had a great time observing nature at work. It was lovely to see evidence of the changing season all around the countryside!

First Holy Communion

Congratulations to our wonderful 2nd Class pupils who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday. They were blessed with fabulous weather for the big day!

Thanks to the staff and families for preparing them and to Fr. Tom for a beautiful ceremony. A special thanks to the parents of 1st Class & the Parents Association for organising and preparing the party back at school.

Well done to all involved!

Sacraments 2022

School principals met this morning with Father Aquinas at the Parish Office to arrange the sacraments for the year ahead. See below:

  • First Confession will take place in Ballymore Church @ 7pm on March 24th
  • First Communion will take place in Ballymore Church @ 11am on May 7th.
  • Confirmation dates will be finalised in the coming days.

We are looking forward to all the celebrations in 2022!

Second Class 2021

Second class have been working very hard this year. They are learning a lot and have also been having great fun with their friends in school.

We love science! We learned all about the human skeleton and made some cool cotton bud skeletons to decorate the school corridors. “The Gummy Bear Experiment” was interesting and had some very surprising results. Check out the picture for proof! We planted some daffodils with Bean Uí Riain as well.

Our class love going for walks on the school track and using our whiteboards for handwriting. Second class researched and presented their very first projects last week. They were super impressive!

We have been very lucky to have Diarmuid Kearney (Cobh and Cork U20 footballer) coaching us for PE. He has been working on fundamental movement and Gaelic football skills with us.

Last week, Rang 2 were very proud to win the “Random Acts of Kindness” school contest. The children earned 3 homework passes which they can use whenever they wish! We also made beautiful “Attitude of Gratitude” posters.

Well done everybody!
