Fire Safety with Cobh Fire Station

David and Paul from Cobh Fire Brigade visited Walterstown NS last Thursday. They gave a very informative fire safety presentation in the halla, before allowing each class the opportunity to explore their fire truck.

The children really enjoyed sitting in the fire truck and learning about all the different equipment and fire safety clothing fire-fighters use.

A big thanks to David and Paul for taking the time to visit our school and providing us with the skills and knowledge to remain safe in any fire emergency!

Cobh GAA Partnership/Coaching

Diarmuid Kearney has been doing fantastic work with Junior Infants – Rang 2 this academic year!

The children built up their strength, coordination and fundamental movement skills before Christmas through Gaelic football. For the last few weeks, Diarmuid has focussed on teaching hurling/camogie skills.

Cobh GAA’s School Coaching Program in Walterstown NS has been a great success!

A huge thanks to Diarmuid for sharing his knowledge and skill with us in the school to date.

St Patrick’s Day

All the boys and girls were busy this week preparing for St. Patrick’s Day. Irish dancing, arts and crafts, singing and a talent show were just some of the festive activities which the children took part in!

All of the children in WNS will be taking part in a sponsored Activity Challenge on 16th March 2022. They will each be given a sponsorship card to take home with them. Keep an eye on the website to see the children enjoying skipathons, blitzes, novelty races and many more fundraising activities!

Friendship February Competition Results

Third Class 2022

Third Class are studying Vincent van Gogh and have drawn their own version of Sunflowers. They have taken part in athletics training and are enjoying lego with the children from First Class. They have done projects on marine litter and learned a lot about climate change and sea pollution.
